The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will face the Warriors of Zimbabwe in a Group J showdown at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium today November 19, 2024. The game begins at 2. p.m and counts for the sixth and last playing day of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Both teams have already secured their places in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but will be vying for top spot in the group. Concretely, Cameroon picked an early qualification from Group J to the competition after match day 4 while Zimbabwe picked the last available spot from the group after the draw against Kenya on day 5 of the qualifiers. Cameroon currently leads the group with 11 points, while Zimbabwe sits in second place with nine points.
The Lions have been impressive in the qualifiers remaining unbeaten and historically have a slight upper hand over Zimbabwe. The history of confrontations between the Indomitable Lions and the Warriors show 10 matches played between the two teams. Cameroon has recorded six wins, one draw and three defeats. But a recall of the day 2 game of the ongoing qualifiers against Zimbabwe that ended on a 0-0 tie in Kampala, Uganda does not speak well for the Lions. They had no single shot on target and had serious difficulties in developing a constructive playstyle. This means that Zimbabwe can pose a serious threat to Cameroon. This, especially as the fine form of the Warriors cannot be disputed. They have lost just one of their last eight AFCON qualifiers, and are unbeaten in their last five since a 2-0 loss to Zambia
