Presidential Election : Voting On Sunday

On Sunday October 12, 2025, Cameroonians home and abroad, who registered on the electoral registers will have the opportunity to choose their next President of the Republic, whose Constitutional mandate is seven years. According to the law, polling stations open at 8:00 a.m and will close at 6:00 p.m. Going by the statistics from the elections management body, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), there are slightly over eight million persons on the national registers and 34, 296 registered persons abroad, expected to cast their votes in 44 diplomatic and consular missions were pulling stations have been installed. 
Officials of ELECAM note that every polling station has already received its electoral material and the list of electors published. Indeed, on October 3, 2025, the Director General of Elections signed a press release announcing the publication and availability of the lists of polling stations and electors per polling station. The publication is in accordance with Sections 96 and 97 of the Electoral Code whose objective is permitting electors to know their polling stations and take necessary measures for mobility. “The list of polling stations shall be forwarded to Council Branches of Elections Cameroon for posting at least eight days before the day of election. Every polling station shall have the lists of voters eligible to vote,” stipulates the aforementioned Sections of the Electoral Code. 
Given that the election is by secret ballot, uniform and opaque envelopes shall be used in the voting exercise. Before the first elector casts their vote, the law provides for the Chairperson of the Local Polling Commission to publicly open the ballot box to ascertain that it is empty and has no opening, then lock it under the control of the other members of the polling station and where applicable, in the presence of any other accredited person such as observers.
