Promoting African Fabrics: Winners Receive Awards

Winners of the first edition of the Pan – African Fabric Innitiave have received their award in a ceremony that took place on Saturday May 30, 2026 in Douala. The winners included Grand Champion: Muk’s Couture, founded by Mukwusu Mercy Ntsiih in Yaounde, First runner up EBOH Design, founded by Anaba Linda Eboh, while Kolo Designz, founded by Chlautille Fobuzie of Douala, secured the position of second runner- up. The first Pan-African Fabric Initiative, launched in 2025 by visionary artist and designer Shiri Achu, was a moment for the first cohort of designers to be decorated in an event that highlighted African excellence, identity, and global ambition. Destined to promote unity, cultural diplomacy, and dialogue across Africa, the Pan-African Fabric incorporates symbolic elements from multiple nations, including Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Morocco, Ethiopia, South Africa, Egypt, and the Central African Republic. The textile’s colour palette draws inspiration from Shiri Achu’s 2023 “Long Live the Art of Service” campaign, a philosophy positioning service as a shared value uniquely interpreted across individuals and cultures. During the event, the Pan-African Fabric Initiative vision bearer Shiri Achu disclosed that when she first created the Pan-African Fabric, her vision was to make something that represents unity across Africa while honouring the richness of the different cultures. “What we have witnessed through this competition has been truly inspiring.
