Public Asset Management: Materials Accounting Training Centre Reopens

Activities to mark the start of the 2026/2027 academic year were chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance last July 17, 2026 in Yaounde.
I n a bid to strengthen the ca pacity of officials in charge of public asset management and good governance in Came roon, the government has reo pened the Directorate of Stan dardization and Material Accoun ting (DNCM) under the Ministry of Finance (MINFI) in Yaounde. According to MINFI’s Secretary General, Edoa Gilbert Didier, the increased demands for transpa rency, performance, and accoun tability, regarding the quality of public asset management chiefly depends on competent human resources. Reasons why the go vernment is particular about en hancing modernized training of the over 400 students enrolled for the 2026/2027 academic year at the centre. “The institu tion that had been closed for over two years due to adminis trative bottlenecks, will hence forth operate in a renovated and functional framework that will host information sessions and trainees from all parts of the country under optimal condi tions”, the SG said. Under the new directive, the centre’s Director, Desire Kongo Elanga, explained that materials accounting is now a strategic tool for internal control and per formance.
