Anglican Diocese of Yegassi: Canterbury Archbishop Communes With Christians

"M ay the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine upon you and give you peace," said the Archbishop of Canterbury, Her Grace Sarah Mul- lally to the christains of the An- glican Diocese of Yegassi, in the outskirts of Yaounde, Okola Sub- division of the Centre Region. On the fourth day of her five-day pastoral journey to Cameroon, the Archbishop of Canterbury and Head of the Church of England, The Most Honourable Sarah Mul- lally has visited the Saint Theresa Anglican Church in Yegassi, on the outskirts of Yaounde. Her visit to the church was basically to understand the challenges of evangelisation and the economic empowerment of its believers. The Parish Priest, Father Ndjomo Depasse, presented their econo- mic plan of cocoa farming, conser- vation, transformation and sales to the visiting Head of the global Anglican Communion. He noted that Proverbs 12:11 which states that he who works his farm will be filled with bread, keeps them going. Despite the pesticides and the effects of climate change, the Parish Priest said they have been able to improve yields. At the end of the visit, the Most Honourable Sarah Mullally reite- rated the role the Church must play to ensure the wellbeing of humanity.
