The growing trend has availed a remote source of income for most young graduates in the nation.

Technological developments have provided an income-generating source for graduates and unemployed youths through online teaching. Unlike conventional classrooms, online tutors deliver lessons virtually through lap­ tops and phones to learners in Ca­ meroon and across the globe on plat­ forms like Preply, Grammarly, AnB, Udemy, Cousera, amongst others. Virtual tutoring is not limited to fo­ reign learners, as some tutors also teach Cameroonian students who need extra lessons for international examination preparation like IELTS, TOEFLE, GRE, and many others. The tutors who often teach specialized subjects like Mathematics, English, French, and many more, earn an ave­ rage sum of between FCFA 2,500 to 28,000 per hour depending on lon­ getivity in service. According to Boris Ndong, “I have consistently cashed out a weekly amount of FCFA 35,000 to 50,000 and monthly pay of about FCFA 200,000, depending on the number of students and hours I lec­ ture”.
