Bakassi Peninsular: At Least Eight Dead In Kombo Itindi Boat Collision

The accident which occurred last Sunday September 6, 2026 at Authority Port, Kombo- Itindi, Ndian Division involved two speedboats.

E ight people have been confirmed dead, following the collision of two engine boats around the Authority Port, a creek locality in Kombo-Itindi subdivision in Ndian Di­ vision of the South West Region. One person is still unaccounted for following the accident. According to the Divisional Officer of Kombo Itindi (DO), Abdu Rhamani, the accident oc­ curred some 35 minutes navigation away from the administrative seat in Barracks. “It occurred around Authority Port towards the BIR Camp, two boats collided. They were on high speed inside a narrow creek. Two people were seriously wounded while eight corpses have been retrieved,” the DO elucidated. The administrative au­ thority stated that the defence and security officers in the area and local fisher men struggled to retrieve eight bodies during a rescue operation. Meanwhile, one person is still missing by press time. He could not ascertain whether the missing person is already dead or not given that it takes more than two days for a dead body to float. “While one person is still missing, a woman and her four-year old child survived the accident,” the D.O re­ vealed adding that the survivors are currently receiving medical attention.
