Road Construction: World Bank Reviews Funded Projects

Some three key road infrastructure projects financed by the World Bank have come under review in Yaounde. Both personalities used the audience to assess the level of execution of construction works on the Babadjou-Bamenda, Maroua-Mora and Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri roads.

After the audience, Nicolas Peltier told reporters that there were so many positive results of the World Bank-funded projects in execution in Cameroon. “We intend accelerating the rate of execution as we looked at modalities to reinforce our partnership so that we are more efficient. Our approach is result-oriented,” he said.

According to the Bretton Woods official, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire are the most privileged countries in Francophone sub-Saharan Africa in terms of investments of the World Bank Group. Nicolas Peltier disclosed that between now and the end of the year, they shall make disbursements for certain programmes of the World Bank’s portfolio in Cameroon.

Officials of the Ministry of Public Works told Cameroon Tribune that work will soon resume on the 52km Babadjou-Bamenda road. The project had been executed at 13.5 per cent before it was halted due to insecurity and the occupation of project sites. The hurdles are now said to have been sorted out.
