Environmental Impact Assessment : UNIDO Trains 50 Engineers

The three week-long training which opened on January 21, 2019 in Yaounde is part of a project to encourage renewal energy while protecting the environment.

An intensive training to provide advanced knowledge to some 50 persons with engineering background in processes and practices of Environmental Impact Assessment has opened in the nation’s capital. The three week-long workshop kicked off on Monday January 21, 2019, at the National Advanced School of Engineering in Yaounde. It is organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

According to the organisers, the training seeks to provide concept, principles and processes of EIA, as well as develop the ability of participants to understand linkages between different steps of EIA. In addition, it will hep them develop skills to prepare high quality and practical EIA reports. Also, the training will help participants have a better understanding of the sustainable use of natural resources, including biodiversity, national and international instruments on EIA requirements, make renewable energy projects environmentally friendly and sustainable.
