Central African Backbone : Gov't to Complete Component This Year

During the 7th session of the National Steering Committee of the CAB project held yesterday, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said the project is stretching wider.

The Cameroon component of the Central African Backbone (CAB) project will be completed by December this year, Minette Libom Li Likeng, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications has said. The Minister, on Wednesday February 27, 2019, told reporters that the project had observed some delays due to factors beyond their control but everything had been sorted out and the CAB project is now on good course.

Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng was speaking during the 7th session of the National Steering Committee of the Central African Backbone Project which held in Yaounde. The Minister used the occasion to call on all those involved in the project to sit up. “Our responsibility is big. We all need to put ourselves to work to accelerate the execution of the various aspects of the project – by taking adequate measures to uproot bottlenecks which can hinder project implementation, notably that which concerns the principal activity of planting the optic fibre,” Libom said.

According to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, government is committed in efforts to see into it that a high-speed optic fibre network is put in place in the central African sub-region. She said, once completed, the CAB project will help reduce...
