Environmental Conservation: COMIFAC Holds 33rd Session

From the 14-17 February 2022, members will brainstorm on how to improve on the biodiversity in the sub region.

The Executive Secretariat of the Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC) is currently holding in Douala to restitute and exchange on the conclusions of the sub-regional virtual meetings, regional and international virtual meetings. The meeting is also to take stock of the processes and meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and to define the common position of the COMIFAC countries for SBSTTA-24 and SBI3.

For four days members will exchange on the implementation of the recommendations of the GTBAC 32, elaborate and adopt the roadmap for the year 2022, adopt the guidelines and sub-regional strategy documents, review the draft of the post 2020 global framework for biodiversity and redefine the common position of the COMIFAC countries as well as examine the issues submitted to the agenda of the meeting of the subsidiary body in charge of providing scientific, technical and technological advice (SBSTTA-24) and adopt the common position of the countries of the COMIFAC area.

While opening the meeting on February 14, in Douala, the Executive Secretary of COMIFAC, Mr. Hervé Martial Maidou called on all to be diligent and make tangible proposals for the protection of the biodiversity. He requeste...
