Buea : Three CBC Bolifamba Pupils Die After Eating In School

There others survived the incident and the deceased buried as Police investigation is still unfolding to establish the exact cause of the episode.
The management of Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Primary School Lower Bolifamba (Mile 16) in Buea Subdivision is in the state of shock following the sudden demise of three Class Six pupils on March 3, 2022. Rev. Hansen Nafenda Ekwe, pastor of Salem Baptist Church Lower Bolifamba that manages the school, explained that during break on that ill-starred day six pupils from Class Six converged in Class One where they ate together. That they consumed plantain and sauce, and jellof rice. All the food were brought by the pupils from their homes. “The Head Teacher called my attention that a pupil has collapsed in school. We rushed him to Baptist Hospital Mutengene and unfortunately this child passed away. While we were still in the hospital another pupil was brought in and he also passed away. Then the third pupil died at the Integrated Health Centre Bolifamba (Mile 16),” the pastor told Cameroon Tribune on March 12, 2022, in tears.
One pupil was rushed to the Buea Regional Hospital, another to a Divine health facility in Bolifamba and another treated at home with herbs who all survived. The deceased are Larry Ashu (buried on March 5 in Bolifamba), Robert Makwaboum (buried on March 8 in Babanki) and Yannick Anagafack whose corpse was immediately ferried to Dschang for burial after the unfortunate incident. Minister Vera Nain, the school chaplain, had collapsed out of shock that same March 3, 2022 but was revived. Rev Nafenda Ekwe and Nshang Godfrey, Head Teacher of the school, were in Police custody from March 3 to 6.
