Food Product Quality : The Urgency For National Accreditation Agency

The General Manager of the National Drug Quality Control and Valuation Agency, LANACOME, held a press briefing in Yaounde on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Organised by the Cameroon Association of Science Journalists and Communicators, SCILIFE, the debriefing had as theme non-conformity with standards by manufacturers of food products distributed in the country.
“My presentation was to raise awareness on the root cause of the problem; talk about the need to develop and strengthen our national quality infrastructure by reinforcing the interdependence of the pillars of the infrastructure; and to develop a strategic plan to separate metrology, technical standards and conformity evaluation agencies,” explained Dr Ngono Mballa Rose, a pharmacist and General Manager of the National Drug Quality Control and Valuation Agency, LANACOME.
“We need to create a national accreditation agency to issue accreditations, check equipment, quality control, conformity evaluation...,” Dr Ngono noted.
