Youth Football : 2022 National U-17 Tournament Launched

The 2022 edition of the U-17 National Tournament has effectively begun in Cameroon. The kicker was given yesterday July 11, 2022 at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza. It was in the presence of the Secretary General of the Cameroon Youth Football League, Michel Kaham, the captain of the Indomitable Lions, Vincent Aboubakar, some former Lions, alongside other dignitaries. A total of 199 teams from 30 divisions are taking part in the tournament slated to end on August 12, 2022.
The opening match was that pitting Fondation FDJ and Best Talent FC (5-2). The young footballers showed a lot of determination on the pitch and their moves depicted that with much efforts and work, Cameroon can hope to have quality footballers at the senior level.
As for how the tournament would unfold, Michel Kaham said the knock out format will be used. He explained that the tournament will take place in four phases. They include the divisional, regional, zonal and national phases. As for the divisional phase, teams of the same division will meet to produce a champion.
