2022 Women’s Handball AFCON : Cameroon Qualifies For Quarterfinals

After winning their first two games against Côte d’Ivoire and Madagascar, the Lionesses play their last group game today against host Senegal in Dakar.

The Vice Champions of Africa, Cameroon, are waxing strong at the ongoing 25th Women’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Dakar Senegal. After beating Côte d’Ivoire, the Lionesses picked qualification into the quarterfinals as they thrashed Madagascar 42-9 in their second group game on Friday November 11, 2022. The Cameroonians were highly superior to the Madagascans in all aspects of play. Yuoh Yvette and mates mastered their opponents from start to finish, having the laxity to go past the Madagascan’s porous defence to score. The first half ended 23-5 in favour of the Lionesses. This score tells of the fact the Cameroonians were tough in attack, and the Madagascans did not have the adequate skills to break the watertight defence of their opponents. At the end of the game, Cameroon’s goalkeeper, Linda Awu Epah Bessong was named Best player of the match after several saves and conceding limited number of goals.
