Qatar 2022 : Yaounde Takes off With Doha

The streets were less busy, as some city dwellers watched the kick-off of the world cup yesterday, from the comforts of their homes, in fan zones as well in some drinking spots.

Football fans across the world, had one rendez-vous yesterday November 20, 2022, that of living the kick-off of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar from their different corners. Cameroonian fans as well had this global meeting on agenda and even though it was not match day for the Lions, the mobilisation in homes, fan zones as well as in some drinking spots in the nation’s capital, Yaounde could not be undermined. The streets were deserted, as fans were scorched in on their screens from various ends.
At the fan zone at the premises of the Yaounde Municipal Town hall, there was much more enthusiasm; the seats were almost full and there was a lot of excitement to watch the kicker that pitted host Qatar against Ecuador. When the game started, the atmosphere was calm, with some few persons making comments about the opening the ceremony. The noise escalated when Ecuador opened scores and it was denied.
