Approved Management Centres For SMEs : Gov’t Launches Campaign In Bamenda

This was in a ceremony at the Pastoral Centre, Up-station Bamenda, on July 4, 2023 chaired by the Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts.


The Minister of Small and Medium-Size Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille Bassilikin III, on Tuesday July 4, 2023 launched the 8th edition of the sensitization campaign caravan on Approved Management Centres (AMCs). Considering the security situation in the North West Region, the event which was taking place for the first time in Bamenda was on the theme; “membership of Small and Medium-Sized enterprises from economically-depressed areas in Approved Management Centres; A lever for competitiveness and growth.”
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the sensitisation seminar which brought together multitudes of SMEs promoters from the North West Region, the Minister said the move is not only to sensitise economic operators on the advantages of belonging to an AMC, but also to be able to disseminate information about measures taken by government in favour of SMEs and to boost economic activity. For instance, he said membership to an AMC enables the SME benefit from tax discount of up to 50 per cent as per the 2023 finance law and more so the SME can benefit from counselling on accounting and other facilities by government to assist SMEs. He disclosed that the government had put in place a FCFA 200 billion credit guarantee scheme to support not only agricultural activities but also the other livestock activities.
