MTN Elite One : Fauve Azur Qualifies For Play-offs Up

Fauve Azur of Yaounde have qualified for the Play-offs Up tournament in the Elite One Championship. The Fireboys beat Avion Academy of Douala 1-0 during the 18th and last playing day of the MTN Elite One Championship that took place at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium Annex One on Saturday March 2, 2024. It was an encounter that was highly expected by fans given that each side was seeking for a spot in the play-offs Up. Supporters from Yaounde and elsewhere thronged the stadium to cheer their teams. 
Fauve Azur began the game well dominating the first part with a good play style. They were however unable to produce killer chances. Avion Academy fought back putting up pressure upfront but they squandered their chances. The two sides put up a good show during the first half but Fauve Azur proved stronger towards the end of the half as Kantin Ngomeni opened scores at the 30th minute. Both teams separated at half time on a 1-0 score margin. 
On resumption, Avion Academy came up stronger putting much pressure on the Fauve Azur defence but they were faced with strong resistance form their opponents. Azur equally bounced back but they missed their chances. Azur made several attempts at goal but they were off target. Replacements made by the coaches to change the game did not help much. All efforts by Avion Academy to reduce scores were futile. At stoppage time, the scoreboard read 1-0 in favour of Fauve Azur. The result enabled fans of Fauve Azure to go back home smiling.
