Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting : Prime Minister Represents Cameroon In Samoa

Joseph Dion Ngute heads the Cameroonian delegation at the summit holding under the theme “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth.”

Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, is currently in Apia, Samoa to take part at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) holding under the theme, “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth.” The Prime Minister who heads the Cameroonian delegation is accompanied by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu. The summit is holding from October 21-26, 2024.  This summit is significant as it is the first time CHOGM is being held in a Pacific Small Island Developing State, and the first with His Majesty King Charles III as Head of the Commonwealth.
Key highlights of the summit include, focus on gender inequity by addressing income inequity, violence, and structural discrimination faced by women, and youth resilience through emphasis on the role of young leaders in shaping the future. The theme underscores the importance of building resilience and leveraging the strengths of the Commonwealth’s 56 member countries.
The summit that brings together 4,000 delegates from member countries features several Ministerial Meetings, 35 side events, four forums, and the election of the new Commonwealth Secretary-General.
