Konye, Kumba III Municipalities : Citizens Focus On Local Governance Actions

The municipal bodies were also called up to take their responsibilities serious so as to better serve their denizens.

The population of Konye and Kumba Ill Municipalities, (all in Meme Division of the South West) have hailed the Office of Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region (OPIC) for educating them on their rights in relation to council services in the two councils. The first lap was on October 30, 2024 at the Konye Council hall and the following day at the Kumba III Council as OPIC embarked on a sensitization tour in the two structures aimed at putting citizens at the centre of local governance actions. 
Chief Mediko John Mediko III, traditional ruler of Konye, said the platform educates them on how to get the Council attain to their development needs. Makamgo Geraldine Lucie, President of Tame III Market in Kumba III, said thanks to the OPIC get together she now knows how to engage with the Kumba III Council for a smooth collaboration. 
Mukwele Nguba Isaac, Mayor of Kumba III, indicated that a lot will change in his council in terms of service delivery to the population. The council staff in charge of services like civil status registration, town planning, hygiene and sanitation etc were urged to live up to their ethical responsibility.
