Living Together : NGO Seeks To Curb Hate Speech, Tribalism

Filiations Multiethniques-Together 237” made their intentions known during a press conference yesterday, January 22, 2025 in Yaounde.
Journalists in the country have been called to become ambassadors in building a united and peaceful Cameroon. The call was made yesterday January 22, 2025, by the National Coordinator of the association “Filiations Multiethniques – Together 237”, Charles Martin Abessolo Monefong, during a press conference to officially launch its commitments to promoting living together and the fight against tribalism.
Speaking to the press, Charles Martin Abessolo said the media has a crucial role in bringing the message of unity and solidarity to every home and community and that Filiations Multiethniques - Together 237 becomes a model of success and the light for a harmonious nation in the future. In the presence of other executive board members of the association, Mr Abessolo clearly stated the association is strictly apolitical. “We have no political affiliation, because our fight for national unity transcends partisan divisions. This position enables us to bring together all Cameroonians, whatever their ideologies”, the Coordinator underscored. The movement officially launched on Wednesday January 22, 2025, Mr Abessolo said, was an opportunity for everybody to build a better future, a future in which children and grandchildren will live in a united, peaceful and prosperous Cameroon.
Talking about the raison d’etre behind the creation of the association, it was revealed that it is an initiative that responds to a reality in Cameroon that is deeply rooted in the peoples’ daily lives. Mr Abessolo said in spite of the ethnic, religious and cultural diversity, positive interactions take place every day between citizens.
