Music, Education: Asaba Inspires Students With Life-saving Knowledge

The renowned Cameroonian Afropop artist has launched a ground-breaking initiative to promote first aid awareness among students in Buea.
I n an inspiring blend of music and education, award-winning afropop artiste, Asaba, has embarked on a school tour in Buea, Regional headquarters of the South West Region aimed at raising awareness about first aid. The tour, which ran from February 6 to 7, 2025, kicked off at Summerset Bilingual College Buea, followed by Biaka University Institute of Buea. Activities on day two took place at Government High School Bokwaongo and ended at Government Bilingual High School Muea. The outing has already made a significant impact with students learning critical first aid techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, wound care, and emergency response. Asaba, known for hit songs like ‘Big Dreams’, ‘Yele’, and ‘Mon Bebe’, integrated educational messages into performances, making first aid training both fun and memorable. ‘Music is a universal language, and I believe it can be used to save lives,’ Mary Asombang Asaba said. ‘Many young people do not realize how important first aid is until they are faced with an emergency. Through this tour, I want to empower students with knowledge that could one day help them save a life’, Asaba added.
