Yaounde Music Expo 2025 : AI’s Role In Music On The Spotlight

From March 19-22 artists and technology experts gathered in Yaounde to discuss how Artificial intelligence is shaping the creative industry in Cameroon.

The Yaounde Music Expo (YAMEX) 2025 brought together culture and music professionals, artists, and technology experts for four days of discussions on artificial intelligence in the creative industries. The event examined Artificial Intelligence’s (AI) role in music creation, production, and distribution through panel discussions, workshops, and live performances. The event kicked off with a roundtable discussion on AI as a driver of transformation in cultural industries. Visionary speakers who are experts in the domain practicing in Cameron and beyond for years such as Lionel Mbiandjeu, Hans Mbong, and Patrick Nguiamba Nloutsiri shared insights on how AI is reshaping content creation, production, and distribution. Their discussion reinforced the belief that innovation is the breath of the future, and AI is here to help artistes perfect their art and promote it easily.
Day two delved deeper into AI’s practical applications, featuring workshops on music production automation and AI-powered marketing tools for artists. As AI continues to shape the music industry, concerns over its ethical and legal implications took centre stage on the third day. Panels on ethics and AI in artistic creation, as well as the future of copyright in the digital age, featured legal experts such as Isidore Tameu Pfeudie, Gauss Olama Olama, and Sa Majesté Junior Abega. Discussions highlighted the need to balance technological advancement with artistic integrity, with the panellists noting that ethics is the compass that guides innovation, while the law provides the framework that protects it.
