Malaria, Arboviruses : Laboratory, Research Centre Partners For Better Control

A MOU was signed between Centre Pasteur, Cameroon and Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) on Wednesday April, in Yaounde.

Centre Pasteur of Cameroon (CPC) and the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) are joining their expertise to foster research on malaria and arboviruses. This is within a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both structures on Wednesday April 9, 2025 in Yaounde. The Director General of CPC, Dr Mirdad Kazanji signed on one hand while the Executive Director of the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases Professor Charles Wondji signed on the other hand. 
The MoU defines the general framework for collaboration between the two institutions in specific areas of scientific research and training. The agreement will also facilitate the design and implementation of control activities against infectious diseases using multi-disciplinary approaches while integrating partners from different areas such as educational, governmental and the private sector. The partnership will particularly strengthen research capacity through joint projects, as well as develop training programmes designed to improve the skills of researchers and students from both institutions and in low-income countries. Some of the areas in which the collaboration will apply include: vector-borne diseases, neglected tropical diseases, emerging and re-emerging viral infections, antimicrobial resistance and molecular epidemiology and diagnostics. 
Dr Kazanji said CPC has been working for many years in the area of infectious diseases. Hence, the MoU will reinforce collaboration and knowledge exchange amongst researchers of both institutions especially when it comes to malaria control and arboviruses which are transmitted by...
