Combating Climate Change : Partnership For Efficiency In CDC

The Cameroon Development Corporation and the National Observatory on Climate Change on April 29, 2025 signed a five-year agreement.

The Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) has taken steps to protect its crops in the face of worsening climate change. It has employed the services of the National Observatory on Climate Change (NOCC). On Tuesday April 29, 2025, at the CDC head office in Bota Limbe, the two institutions signed a five-year agreement aimed at boosting climate resilience in the country’s agricultural sector. The partnership is expected to boost CDC’s ability to implement climate-smart strategies and long-term resilience planning.
As the second-largest employer in Cameroon, CDC plays a vital role in the economy through its operations in rubber, oil palm, and other agro-industrial crops. However, increasingly erratic weather patterns such as inconsistent rainfall and rising temperatures are impacting yields and threatening livelihoods. “Rubber production is suffering due to irregular rainfall, and oil palm yields are reacting unpredictably to rising monthly temperatures,” said CDC General Manager, Franklin Ngoni Njie who signed for his institution. And NOCC’s Director General, Prof. Amougou Joseph Armathé who signed for his institution, emphasized that the collaboration will support CDC in developing climate-smart strategies and improving its adaptive capacity.
