This is the case of midfielder Charlène Meyong, who, in just her first season in the English women’s division two championship, dubbed the Barclays Women’s Championship, has bagged this season’s trophy with her club, London City Lionesses. This feat grants the team promotion to the first division next season.
In effect, a 2-2 draw against Birmingham City in what was termed the final of the league on Sunday, May 4, 2025, was enough to secure the trophy. The Cameroon international started the game and put up a top-notch performance. She has been globally very instrumental in the journey to the title.
