Polio Vaccination Campaign : Second Round Set To Begin May 29

The synchronized campaign with Vit A and malaria treatment will help to reduce morbidity and mortality amongst women and children.

The second round of the nationwide polio vaccination campaign will begin from 29 May to June 1st, 2025. Ahead of the crucial campaign, journalists, bloggers and rural communicators in the Centre Region gathered last Friday May 16, 2025 at the Centre Regional Delegation of Public Health to fine-tune communication strategies for an effective vaccination session in the region’s 33 health districts. Particular about this second round is the fact that a full package of high-impact interventions to help reduce morbidity and mortality of women and children has been taken into consideration. 
Besides the fact that the polio vaccination targets between 0-5 years, vitamin A supplementation has been added for children between 12 to 59 months as well as Intermittent Preventative of malaria for women from the 13th week of pregnancy. While coordinating the media briefing, Centre Regional Coordinator of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), Dr Brice Edzoa, reiterated that children between 6-11 months will continue to receive the Vitamin A supplementation through the routine vaccination programme while pregnant women will receive Intermittent Preventative for malaria during the campaign period.
