Judo Pretoria Open : Cameroon Grabs 15 Medals

Eleven gold; two silver and two bronze is the medal harvest for Cameroon at the just-ended competition in Pretoria, South Africa.
The 2025 edition of the Judo Pretoria Open rounded off in Pretoria, South Africa, on Sunday June 29, 2025. Organised by the African Judo Union (UAJ), the competition brought together 67 judokas from 11 countries. Cameroon was represented in the competition by 12 athletes both in the junior and senior categories. Cameroon dominated both the senior and junioir categories of the competition, winning a total of 15 medals 11 of them in gold. Six of the gold medals were won in the senior category and five in the junior category.
The women's gold medals were won by Fiona Nsame Mbongo (-57kg), Ornella Biami Zita (-70kg), Georgika Djengue Moune (-78kg), and Anita Soppi Mbella (+78kg). In the men's category, Carlos Ngueya Naheu won gold in the -90kg category, as did Franck Ulrick Tahman Zan in the -100kg category. Cameroonian athletes also won two silver medals, thanks to Kom Teddy (-73kg) and Esther Mbezele Atangana (+78kg). Added to this table, two bronze medals won only in the Women's category by Marie Céline Baba Matia (-52kg) and Jessie Yohane Ngae (-81kg). In the junior category, all the five athletes from team Cameroon secure gold medals. Alain Christian Kingue said the results are good as it will prepare the athletes for the African Judo championship in Angola.
