2025 Cup of Cameroon : Canon Claws Into 16th Finals

Canon Sportif of Yaounde have secured their spot in the 16th finals of the 2025 football Cup of Cameroon after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South regional league club, AS Fortune of Bengbis. The 32nd-finals match took place yesterday July 2, 2025 at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza. The match, one of the highly anticipated fixtures as the 32nd finals kicked off across the nation yesterday, saw Canon enter with a superiority complex of being an elite side. Despite their difficult campaign in the first division, Canon were keen to prove their mettle.
The Yaounde-based club started the game with clear intent, dominating the first half and netting two crucial goals. The opener came from Franck Steve Belobo, who skilfully rolled the ball into the net at just the 10 minute of play. This was followed by a successful penalty conversion by Henry Paul Tchikeu in the 30th minute, giving Canon a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime. 
However, the second half presented a dramatically different scenario. AS Fortune of Bengbis emerged revitalized quickly capitalizing on a misplaced pass from Canon to launch a swift counter-attack. Gaetan Avomo Nka seized the opportunity, reducing the deficit to 2-1 at the 57th minute. From that point, AS Fortune took control of possession, putting Canon under immense pressure.
