Cameroon-Indonesia : New Ambassador To Boost Ties

Agung Cahaya Sumirat handed the advance copies of his lettres of credence on July 2, 2025 to Minister Felix Mbayu with the determination to further strengthen cooperation.

The newly designated Ambassador of Indonesia to Cameroon, Agung Cahaya Sumirat has presented the advance copies of his lettres of credence to the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu. This was during an audience the Minister granted the Head of Mission on July 2, 2025 at the Ministry of External Relations. The solemn diplomatic audience was a platform for the two personalities to acquaint themselves and outline a cooperation framework for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the two nations. The Ambassador on his part expressed his determination to fully collaborate with the government of Cameroon to further strengthen bilateral relations while Minister Felix Mbayu assured him of government’s availability to foster a win-win cooperation.
Born on July 5, 1970, in Kulon Progo, the Ambassador has a rich experience in international, political and security affairs. Between 2021 to his appointment, he was Director for Diplomatic Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. Between 2020 and 2021, Agung Cahaya Sumirat occupied the position of Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to that, he was Coordinator for Political Affairs at the same Embassy for three years (2017-2020).
