Key obstacles include the war's devastating impact on infrastructure and essential services, the fragmentation of political forces, and the lack of trust among warring factions.
The relentless conflict between the SAF and the RSF has created a cycle of violence, displacement, and hunger, making reconciliation incredibly difficult. The war has triggered the world's largest displacement crisis, with millions forced to flee their homes, creating immense humanitarian needs and hindering reconciliation efforts. The war has exposed deep divisions among Sudanese political actors, with some aligning with the SAF and others with the RSF, hindering the formation of a unified front for peace.
