Electoral Operations : Logistics Preparations On Course

The assembly and despatching point at the Airforce 101 Base in Yaounde is being put in place.

It is a busy atmosphere at the Airforce 101 Base in Yaounde with technicians putting up tents that will host teams working on the coding, controlling and verification of electoral materials to be sent to the ten regions for the October Presidential election. The President of the Commission for Logistics and Transportation of Electoral Materials, Jean Mayo is on ground, supervising the installation of the workspace which will be used for the next 45 days, starting from August 20, 2025. This date is given by the aforementioned official of Elections Cameroon, who says the workspace will be fully set on Friday August 15.
As explained by him, once the installations are done, the temporary workers who have been recruited by ELECAM for the purpose will be briefed on what is expected of them during the delicate exercise, before they actually begin. It will also give time for materials being printed by either the National Printing Press or the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation to arrive the Airforce 101 Base site. The President of the Commission says once they begin work, they have 45 days for everything to be done. And this includes coding, controlling, verification, despatching to regions and receiving as well as addressing the complaints from regions should they be any. He explained that the 45 days is to ensure that work done and electoral materials get to all the regions within the stated timeframe. He adds that there will also be teams in the regions to do the control and verification, to ensure that data on materials despatched and those received are in concordance.
