China-Cameroon Cooperation : 2025 Scholarship Grantees Set For China

Some 12 Cameroonian undergraduate and postgraduate students will leave for China in the coming days for studies on Chinese government sponsorship. A farewell ceremony was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon on Thursday, August 21, 2025 in Yaounde for the 2025 Chinese government scholarship grantees. The event was chaired by the new Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Xu Yong. The Cameroon government was represented by Dr. Balla Solange, the Acting Director of Assistance and University Works in the Ministry of Higher Education.

Diverse Fields
The 2025 grantees will study in fields such as finance, law, clinical medicine, Chinese language, education, chemistry, geophysics, Artificial Intelligence, computer science, vehicle engineering... Out of the 12, 7 are undergraduate students, while the remaining 5 are postgraduate students.

China-Cameroon Friendship
In his remarks, Ambassador Xu Yong expressed hope that the grantees will cherish the opportunity to know more about China. And at the same time, work hard to learn more, master knowledge and skills so as to promote the development of Cameroon and China-Cameroon friendship.

Skills For Development 
Dr Balla Solange, who stood in for the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, thanked the Chinese government for its continued support in training Cameroonian youth in diverse and specialized fields of study. “The training of these students will enable them to acquire new, high-quality knowledge and credible certificates in China, enabling them to use the skills acquired for the development of our dear and beautiful country, Cameroon,” Dr Balla noted.

Quality Training 
“… I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that many young Cameroonians are interested in continuing their studies in China, attracted by the quality training offered by Chinese universities. In recent years, some 30 students were selected to study in China, contributing to the revitalization of academic cooperation between Cameroon and China. This represents a synergy of actions in the ongoing cooperation between Cameroon and China as part of the implementation of the 2020-2030 Development Synergy of the National Development Strategy (NDS30),” she stated.

Cordial Working Relations 
“Cooperation between China and Cameroon is a cloudless sky, and it is looking good. Indeed, we have always enjoyed working with the colleagues of His Excellency the Ambassador and I would like to point out the cordial climate of working relations with Mrs. Zhao,” Dr Balla Solange underscored.
