The Bonanjo Public Garden situated around the central post office, is a beloved landmark that has been left to deteriorate. The structure, which is a symbol of national pride, boasts a beautiful fountain and a statue of a brave military officer. The public garden which hosts both government and private events is also a place for recreation for some city dwellers. However, neglect has taken toll on the beautiful garden and it is now in dire need of rehabilitation. On days when there are no ceremonies, the garden transforms into a popular recreation spot for inhabitants. People sit on the benches (bokarols) to relax, socialize, and enjoy the scenery. However, the current state of disrepair is a concern for many. Jonathan Mufia said the garden is a beautiful place to relax and it is part of Cameroon’s history and culture. But he regretted that for some time now, the place has been abandoned.
