Presidency : Paul Biya Takes Command

He officially assumed office for a seven-year mandate on November 6, 2025 after taking the oath at the National Assembly.

He arrived the event ground as President-elect and left as President of the Republic with all the delegation to pilot the affairs of the State. Flags flew at full mast, State symbols in place and an enthusiastic population watched as Paul Biya took the oath of office for another mandate, yesterday November 6, 2025 at the National Assembly. The solemnity of the event was felt and the highlight was the commitment taken by Paul Biya in the words “I do so swear.” This was in response to the question asked by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, if he promises to faithfully perform the duties entrusted on him by the Cameroonian people, devoting his efforts to preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution and the laws of the Republic, as well as watching over the commonwealth of the nation, while upholding and safeguarding the values of unity, integrity and independence of the Fatherland.
Indeed, the Constitution in Section 7 (1) and (2) and the Sections 140 and 141 of the Electoral Code states that the President of the Republic assumes office after oath of office before the Cameroonian people, in the presence of Members of Parliament, the Constitutional Council and the Supreme Court, meeting in a solemn session. Congratulating the President on his re-election during the October 12, 2025 polls, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril who administered the oath of office equally noted that democracy prevailed. 
After taking the oath of office, President Paul Biya in a well-articulated speech presented the priority areas for his mandate. He began by expressing gratitude to the Cameroonian people for renewing their confidence in him through the election. The President also acknowledges being in cognizant of the situation currently facing the country. To him, it is a huge task to be executed and he counts on the support and contribution of every Cameroonian for that to be realised. It is in this regard that the President said his team and himself have listened to the preoccupations, expectations, frustrations and suggestions from Cameroonians home and abroad and this he said, will guide future actions. 
In clear words, President Paul Biya said particular attention will be directed to women and youths in the current mandate christened “Greatness and Hope.” Improved empowerment, better protection, upgraded financial assistance and more coordinated guidance from administration is the engagement taken by the Head of State. For the general wellbeing of the population, he promised accelerating ongoing projects in the energy, water supply, road infrastructure and health sectors. “Efforts to combat corruption will be stepped up. We will also submit to Parliament some reforms to enhance the State’s efficiency by adapting our institutions to the demands of our environment,” Paul Biya stated.
