With an illustrious career, he spent five years with SOPECAM where he served as subeditor at Cameroon Tribune Newspaper.
Nkong Makoge, a one-time staff of Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM), who served in the news department with Cameroon Tribune is dead. He died on November 3, 2025, after he slumped home around 8:30 pm and was later on confirmed dead at the Buea Regional Hospital on the same day. His wife, Princess Florence Naene Endeley, confirmed to CT on November 5, 2025, at their Bonduma residence.
Born on November 28, 1961, Nkong Makoge served at SOPECAM from May 1987 – June 1992. This period coincided with the debut of the Economic Crisis in Cameroon, the most glorious and famous era in the country’s football as well as the start of the virulent political transitional period for a return to multi-party politics from a single party system established in 1966.
In the Sports Service of Cameroon Tribune, he served for just one year as a reporter and was appointed Sub Editor for Sports, June 1988- December 1990. He was then transferred to the political hot bed of Bamenda to Head the Cameroon Tribune News Desk for the then North West and West Provinces from December 1990 to March 1992. He returned to the Headquarters in Yaoundé in March 1992 to serve as one of the Sub Editors of the then National News, very large Service before he was finally sent back to his Ministry of origin, the then mega Ministry of Information and Culture in June 1992.
