Commendable Military Professionalism

President Paul Biya in his new term of office that started when he took the oath of office on November 6, 2025 has the mission, “To work tirelessly for the advent of a united, stable and prosperous Cameroon.” This mission which he stated in his swearing-in speech at the National Assembly will be carried out with the valuable contribution of the defence and security forces whose professionalism President Biya has once again commended.
The country’s defence and security forces have been on all fronts performing their daunting task of protecting the country’s territorial integrity in different restive localities and ensuring public order and peace in all the nooks and crannies of Cameroon.  They once more stood tall in demonstrating courage, dedication and professionalism with the advent of the October 12, 2025 post-electoral period unrest. Indeed, hoodlums and vandals under the guise of claiming the victory of a candidate who proclaimed himself winner of the election went on the rampage looting, vandalizing   and destroying public and private property, attacking forces of law and order and also causing loss of human lives.  President Biya in his swearing-in speech stated, “The situation was brought under control thanks to the courage, dedication and professionalism of our defence and security forces, whom I warmly congratulate.” During the unrest, some senior officials of the defence and security forces were seen in the different parts of the country lecturing the youths who ignorantly took to the streets on provisions of the law with regard to protest, cautioning them against the consequences of violence and destruction. The forces carried out the maintenance of law and order with a humane face without which they would have been terrible incidents of loss of human lives.
Besides the daily maintenance of law and order throughout the country, defence and security forces are leaving remarkable successes in crisis-affected regions of the country. They are working hard to bring back peace and normalcy to the English-speaking North West and South West Regions where armed separatist fighters have been causing havoc since 2017.   Also, Cameroon’s defence and security forces working as part of the Multinational Joint Task Force in Far North Region have worked tirelessly to bring the attacks and havoc of the terrorist sect Boko Haram to the barest minimum.  Both in the North West and South West Regions as well as the Far North Region, government has embarked on reconstruction programmes intended to bring back peace, normalcy and re-launch socio-cultural activities and economic development.
