Comoros is one of the teams proving that there is no small nation in football. The Coelacanths might just be at their second Africa Cup of Nations participation in Morocco, but they have transformed from underdogs into a team capable of upsetting the continent's heavyweights. It all started when they participated in their first AFCON in Cameroon and made history by booking their ticket to the round of 16. Despite opening losses to Gabon and Morocco, in that 2021 edition, they pulled off a stunning 3-2 win over Ghana, which took them to the knockout stage. They left a lasting impression, even though they did not qualify for the 2023 edition of the competition in Côte d’Ivoire. Now they are back in the same impressive style. Comoros secured their spot at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 by finishing atop the table with 12 points in an unbeaten run. Their campaign included a critical 1-0 win against Tunisia, a result that underlined their credentials as group leaders. Under the guidance of Head Coach Stefano Cusin, the team hopes to build on their established confidence to cause a stir in Morocco. Placed in Group A alongside Mali, Zambia, and host Morocco, they are showing no fear but rather acquiring the necessary skills that will allow them to create upsets.
