At their sixth participation in the AFCON, the Warriors are hungry to realise the feat of going pass the group stage.
Drawn in Group B of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, Zimbabwe will face tough competition from Egypt, South Africa, and Angola. History holds that they have never gone pass the group stage in their five previous participations. In their sixth participation in Morocco, the primary objective will first to clinch a ticket to the knockout rounds before thinking of creating upsets. The challenges in their past appearances remain a motivator for the team as they aim to break new grounds. To achieve this result, the team has been preparing consequently. In the just-ended November FIFA window, the country played two international friendlies. The first was against Algeria on November 13, 2025 where the Algerians won 3-1. On November 17, 2025 the gods of football were on the side of the Zimbabweans as they won Qatar 2-1. These two matches were crucial for newly appointed Head Coach, Marian Marinica to analyse the strength and weaknesses of his team in a bid to make necessary corrections.
