State Management : Senate Urges Increased Budgetary Discipline

This is one of the main recommendations contained in the speech read by the Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye at the closing plenary sitting yesterday.

At the closing plenary of the third ordinary session of the Senate for the 2025 legislative year, the Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Aboudalye urged government to strengthen budgetary discipline, substantially increase the public investment budget, including allocations to the Regional and Local Authorities, within the framework of accelerating the decentralisation process.  The recommendation is contained in the closing statement of the legislator who chaired the sitting yesterday. In attendance was the executive bench led by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and the diplomatic corps. 
The Senior Vice President also encouraged government to improve the economic environment, while paying closer attention to the growth of internal debts, in particular, to avoid stifling local business. Through his voice, he stated that the Senate commits to meticulously monitor and systematically control government action with regard to their duties and in honour of the commitment made by the President of the Republic. 
With regards to the well-being of the population, the lawmaker said they expect members of government and other managers of State funds to show prove of honesty, simplicity, transparency, humility and discretion in their actions. “We urge them to shun arrogant practices, self-promotion with the help of influencers on social media at their expense, including all forms of arrogance and contempt, and we expect them to truly and resolutely serve the Cameroonian people, by effectively implementing the policy of the Head of State,” Aboubakary Abdoulaye stated.
