Regional, Local Councils : Stakeholders Commit To Disability Inclusion

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) for the North West Region, partners and public stakeholders have made recommendations and action road map in Bamenda.
At the end of a two-day workshop in Bamenda on December 4 and 5, 2025 to evaluate the state of implementation of the 2010 Law and its enabling text, the Prime Ministerial Degree No. 2018 /2533, relating to the modalities for the application of the law on the protection of persons living with disabilities, stakeholders came up with practical recommendations and roadmap to ensure effectiveness at the regional and local levels.
The workshop was organised by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region with its partners and brought together members of associations of persons living with disabilities and officials of devolved ministries who are stakeholder and duty-bearers of the 2010 law. The workshop was prompted by the fact that Law No. 2010/002 of 13 April 2010 to protect and promote persons with disabilities and its enabling text were under implemented, especially at the regional and local levels.
The PIC Tamfu Simon Fai who presided at the workshop during his opening statement said, “Together, we can move from evaluation to action. From commitments to measurable impact.” Stating the joint resolve which should guide all stakeholders, he said, “Until persons living with disabilities are enjoying their rights and freedoms and can participate and contribute to the fullness of their competences as bona fide and equal members of our society, our work to enhance regional and council governance is not yet over.”
