Memiam : Pupils Celebrate Hopeful Christmas

The atmosphere was filled with laughter and cheers, as some children received Christmas gifts from the Chantal Biya Foundation on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Memiam, a village situated in the Centre Region, specifically within the Nyong and So'o Division, was infused with a festive spirit, exemplifying the generosity and solidarity that define the Christmas season, on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Local dignitaries, community leaders, and a delegation from the Chantal Biya Foundation, sent by the First Lady of Cameroon, converged on Les Champions FCB Primary School, Memiam, to participate in the 12th edition of the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, alongside over 300 pupils. The event was spearheaded by First Lady Chantal Biya, the institution's patron.
The convivial occasion was marked by the presentation of gifts to both pupils and teachers, highlighting the importance of sharing and mutual support during this period. The Deputy Secretary General of the Chantal Biya Foundation, Jean Stephane Biatcha, presided over the event, offering words of encouragement to the pupils as they enthralled their audience, comprising parents and guests, with a delightful programme of performances, including songs, poems, recitations, and dance.
In his welcome address, the Headmaster of Les Champions FCB Primary School in Memiam, Fegue Tanga Nazaire, expressed gratitude for the generosity shown to the school by the First Lady through her eponymous Foundation. He highlighted the significance of the Christmas celebration in promoting values of love, kindness, and giving, and urged the students to become responsible and engaged citizens.
The event took a delightful turn with the distribution of special Christmas gifts to the education community by the Chantal Biya Foundation (CBF). The children's excitement was palpable as they received their presents, their faces glowing with joy and anticipation, eyes sparkling with wonder. As they approached to collect their gifts, some could not help but exclaim with delight, whilst others beamed with pride, clutching their gifts tightly as they returned to their seats.
