Hate Speech : Fight To Be Intensified

An action plan of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism for 2026 was adopted yesterday during its second ordinary session for 2025.
The fight against hate speech and xenophobia in Cameroon will be intensified in the course of 2026 by the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism. This is contained in the action plan of the institution, adopted yesterday December 23, 2025 during its second ordinary session for the year and chaired by the Vice President of the Commission, Oumarou Djika, at the behest of the President, Peter Mafany Musonge.
According to the roadmap of activities, promoting the use of the two official languages of the country will also be strengthened through field visits. There are equally envisaged partnerships with civil society organisations in attaining set objectives of the Commission.
Meanwhile, members of the Commission also reviewed activities carried out in the course of 2025 with the aim of improving in 2026. The year, which the presiding officer noted that was quite challenging, especially with the organisation of the Presidential and Regional elections, the Commission nevertheless did a lot to fight hate speech, promote social cohesion and encourage the use of English and French while communicating to the public.
Detailing their actions, the Vice President of the Bilingualism Commission noted that the institution renewed its partnership with civil society organisations within the framework of the fight against hate speech, most especially during the electoral period.
