Senegal : Soaked In Preps

Facing the seven-time champions, Egypt, in the semifinals; the Teranga Lions hit serious training mode on Sunday; and they are keeping the intensity high.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal was the first side to reach the semifinals of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, grinding out a 1-0 quarterfinals win over Mali in Tangier. Now, they face a monumental test: the seven-time champions, Egypt, at the Grand Stade de Tanger on Wednesday, January 14, 2026; in what will look like a remake of the 2021 AFCON final in Cameroon.
Ever mindful of the Pharaohs' pedigree; led by a resurgent Mohamed Salah; the Teranga Lions are focused on preparations for an honourable and history-making performance. Two days after they won Mali in the quarterfinals, the Senegalese Football Federation confirmed the squad returned to training Sunday under the supervision of national team head coach, Pape Thiaw. The session opened with intensive recovery work to shake off quarterfinals fatigue, then dove into tactical drills.
