South West Cultural Festival: Second Edition Begins Today

Traditional cuisines, dances, arts and crafts will be on full display this weekend in Buea.

The South West Region is set to once again celebrate its rich cultural heritage, as the 2nd edition of the South West Cultural Festival unfolds this weekend at the Bongo Square ceremonial ground and cultural centre in Buea, the Regional capital. Organized by the South West Chiefs’ Conference (SWECC), and placed under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, the festival is scheduled to run from Friday, February 27 to Sunday, March 1, 2026. The event which promises to be a vibrant display of tradition, unity, and investment opportunities, will bring together traditional rulers, government officials, cultural groups, and sons and daughters of the region from across the country and abroad. The festival will bring together the diverse cultures of the six administrative divisions that make up the South West Region, creating a unique platform to celebrate unity in diversity. Beyond the colourful displays, the event will serve as an opportunity to showcase the rich cultural and business potential of the the South West. Although the festival was initially expected to hold last year, the momentum building around this year’s edition reflects the enthusiasm, readiness, and excitement of the population.
