2025 Champions Trophy: Match Ends In Chaos

Colombe, in protest against refereeing decisions favouring their opponents Panthère of Ndé, brought the match at Yaounde Military Stadium yesterday to a premature end.

The incidents that happened during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final are evidently playing extra time in Cameroon. The 2025 Champions Trophy that pitted defending Elite One champions Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo against winners of the Cameroon Cup, Panthère Sportive of Ndé, at Yaoundé Military Stadium on February 26, 2026, unfolded in a similar situation but with its specificities. With the game at 1-0 for Colombe, a penalty was awarded against them at about the 65th minute of play. It was well taken by Georges Mbarga Atedzoa to make it 1-1. Following this, Colombe threatened to leave the pitch in protest over the penalty. After several minutes of consultation, they walked back onto the pitch to continue play. Central referee Biel Kolondo showed Coach Richard Towa of Colombe a yellow card, went onto the pitch to show team captain Randy Ntuwe a yellow card and then a red card. This was the last straw that broke the camel's back. Colombe players decided to halt play again while the Panthère boys stayed on the pitch. Play never resumed, and fans as well as numerous personalities who thronged the stadium began to leave in disappointment.
