Cameroon-UK: British High Commissioner Seeks Stronger Tie

H.E. Matt Woods recently visited the Biaka Group in Buea to explore cooperation in education, healthcare, and research.
The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E. Matt Woods, has reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s interest in building stronger ties with local institutions after a first time visit to the Biaka Group on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The mission aimed to strengthen cooperation and explore new areas of partnership, especially in education, healthcare, and research. It also focused on promoting knowledge sharing and creating long-term international partnerships. While at the Biaka University Institute campus, the High Commissioner toured important facilities such as the library, the Cheryl Ann Port Wood Simulation Centre, laboratories, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The visit allowed him to better understand the institution’s capacity in training students and healthcare professionals. H.E Matt Woods also interacted with students and staff, discussing ways to work together in the future. These discussions focused on improving skills, encouraging innovation, and creating job opportunities for young people in both Cameroon and the United Kingdom.
