U-17 AFCON: Cadet Lions Continue Honing Skills

The team has grasped lessons from the 1-3 defeat against Tanzania in a friendly in Casablanca on May 5, 2026, to shape the last few days of preparation.
The cadet Lions of Cameroon are currently soaked in their acclimatisation camp in Morocco, in preparation for the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2026 which starts on May 13, 2026. Within the framework of this final build-up to the high-stakes competition, the team played its first friendly against Tanzania on May 5, 2026 in Casablanca. The cadet Lions were up against a tougher opponent as compared to the sparring partners they had with their preparation back at home. Tanzania beat Cameroon 3-1 in that friendly match but what mattered most for the cadet Lions were the lessons learned that will be crucial as they make final touches before the start of the competition. The defeat clearly exposed some loopholes that should be corrected by Head Coach Alioum Saïdou if he hopes to make the nation proud with an honourable performance. It should be said that before the game against Tanzania, Cameroon had had just a single training session in the land of the Atlas Lions. Notwithstanding, they a continuing with trainings in preparation for their second and last evaluation game in Morocco. It will be against Mozambique on May 9, 2026. In that match, the players will have the daunting task to prove that they have assimilated their lessons and that they are prepared for the competition.
