North West: Advocacy For Women's Rights

Bamenda (Mezam) - Government officials, traditional au­ thorities, civil society actors and development partners have called for stronger action to eliminate barriers pre­ venting women from owning and controlling land, stres­ sing that secure land rights are essential for women's em­ powerment and sustainable development.The call was made during the opening of a two-day workshop in Ba­ menda on July 16, 2026 on the theme, "No Woman Left Behind: Advancing Women's Participation in Land Mana­ gement and Justice.” The workshop brought together go­ vernment representatives, traditional rulers, women lea­ ders, members of the Mbororo community, civil society organisations and international partners to explore ways of strengthening women's participation in land gover­ nance and access to justice.
