2026 African Women’s Volleyball Championship: Lionesses Receive Gov’t Blessings

T he Cameroon Volleyball Federation on Saturday, August 22, 2026 publi­ shed the list of 14 players who will defend the colours of Cameroon at the 2026 African Women’s Senior Volleyball Championship taking place in Nairobi, Ke­ nya. Headlining the squad are team captain Simone Bikatal, Estelle Adiana and Andrea Moussol, alongside other proficient players. This team, together with the technical staff led by Coach Lavoisier Yende, left Yaounde in the early hours of yesterday morning for the competition venue. Before their departure, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi handed the national flag to the team, a sign of blessings to the squad. This was during a farewell ceremony chai­ red by the Sports Boss on Friday, August 21, 2026. The ceremony was attended by officials of the Cameroon Volleyball Fede­ ration, the Lionesses’ staff and the players themselves. This official send-off crowns an intensive preparation process that be­ gan with a training period at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex, followed by a two-week camp in Istanbul, Türkiye. In Türkiye, the players refined their skills and strengthened team cohesion through friendly matches against elite clubs before returning to Cameroon.
